![]() ![]() ![]() If you are connected via ethernet, or you have verified a consistent good data rate over WiFi, then blame the source. If you get frequent buffering in a stream, and you are connected via WiFi, blame the WiFi first. If it buffered every 5-10 minutes that’s one thing, but it’s every few seconds. ![]() It goes beyond the normal buffering issues, because it’s pretty much unwatchable. It’s odd as well because I have a friend who has a different (cheaper) android box and the same internet package and he never has these issues. As soon as I put on a live hockey or football game it buffers every 5 seconds making it impossible to watch. I notice that if I’m watching a channel that has less traffic I have zero buffering issues. I’m streaming live tv (sports mostly using an app called Perfect Player). So this will be where my lack of knowledge of this stuff comes into play. What exactly are you streaming that needs more than 100 mbps? Even 4K media streams seldom use more than 20 mbps. An external WiFi adapter will do much better.ģ. Crack it open and look inside - you will likely find a single small antenna glued to the inside of the case. On most cheap Android media players the WiFi is awful. On most cheap Android media players, the ethernet port is limited to 100 mbps. In the event that you do believe that I need an upgrade to my android box, would anyone be able to recommend one that isn't going to break the bank but will be able to hit the internet speeds I'm paying for? Thanks for all your help.ġ. I feel like the obvious answer is I have an android box that can't run at the speeds I'm paying for, but I wanted to confirm that with you guys, people who are going to know more about this stuff than I do. I tried disconnecting my android box and did a test that way (so it was connected by wifi) and now it was even worse, getting numbers around 20 download or so. I did some speed tests and noticed that when I did the test on wifi with my phone I was hitting very close to those 300 download numbers I'm paying for, but when I did it through my android (which is connected via ethernet), I was usually coming in at 90-100 download. Within the first couple of weeks I was having a lot of difficult watching high volume stuff, and so I buffed up my internet to the best package (300, 20). I got a really solid internet package (or so I thought) at 150 mps download and 15 upload. I bought a reasonably cheap Android box a couple of months ago ($70) for the purpose of streaming. Firstly I'm an newbie when it comes to this stuff, so maybe my problem is a really simply fix. ![]()
